Product Description

Our High-Performance PTFE Film Tape is made from skived PTFE film coated with a high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. It provides a smooth, low-friction, non-stick backing for industrial processes such as heat sealing equipment, sliding/abrasion reduction surfaces, and electrical insulation applications.

Available in typical thicknesses of ~3 mil, ~5 mil, ~7 mil, and ~10 mil (approx. 0.08 / 0.13 / 0.18 / 0.25 mm), this PTFE adhesive tape offers excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability. Maximum service temperature is typically limited by the adhesive system and should be validated under your process profile and dwell time.

Features

Our PTFE film adhesive tape boasts several outstanding features:

  • Superior Insulation: With high dielectric strength, our skived PTFE tape effectively insulates wires, cables, and components, safeguarding against electrical shorts and high temperatures.
  • High-Temperature Resilience: Capable of withstanding continuous temperaturesup to 260°C, this tape provides excellent heat protection.
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to harsh chemicals, oils, and solvents, our tape is ideal for demanding environments.
  • Non-Stick Surface: The non-adhesive side facilitates easy release, reducing sticking in applications such as composite molding and heat sealing.
  • Smooth and Low Friction: This tape features a low-friction surface that minimizes noise and wear in machinery, ensuring efficient operation.
  • Clean removal: Silicone PSA is designed for clean removal with minimal residue on common smooth substrates when removed within the recommended temperature/time window (substrate- and process-dependent).

Note: This product is PTFE film adhesive tape for non-stick/low-friction surfaces and heat sealing equipment. It is not PTFE thread seal tape for pipe threads.

Applications

Electrical Insulation
Ideal for the electrical sector, skived PTFE tape provides crucial insulation for cables, wires, and components, preventing electrical interference and shorts.

Packing and Sealing
In packaging, our PTFE film adhesive tape is used on heat sealing machines to prevent sticking, enhancing production efficiency during bag sealing.

Heat Sealing & Processing Equipment
Used on heat sealing jaws and rollers to provide a non-stick surface and reduce build-up. Food-contact compliance documentation is available upon request where applicable.

Aerospace and Automotive
In these industries, PTFE film tape is utilized for wire harnessing and insulating components exposed to high temperatures, providing reliability in high-performance settings.

General Industrial Applications
Our skived PTFE tape suits any industrial setting needing thermal resistance or chemical protection.

Printing and Graphics
In printing, it acts as a nonstick surface on heat presses, preventing ink and adhesives from adhering to machinery.

FAQs

Q1: What is the difference between PTFE film tape and PTFE thread seal tape?

A: PTFE film tape is a skived PTFE film coated with an adhesive (commonly silicone PSA) used for non-stick surfaces, low-friction wear, masking, and heat sealing equipment. PTFE thread seal tape is a non-adhesive PTFE tape designed specifically for sealing pipe threads. They are made for different applications and are not interchangeable.

Q2: What temperature range can silicone adhesive PTFE film tape handle?

A: PTFE film itself has excellent thermal stability, but maximum service temperature is typically limited by the adhesive system. Many silicone-PSA PTFE film tapes are used within a broad range (often up to ~260 °C, grade-dependent). For critical processes, verify performance under your actual dwell time, temperature profile, and substrate.

Q3: How do I choose the right thickness (3/5/7/10 mil) for my application?

A: Thickness selection depends on the use case:

  • Thinner (e.g., ~3 mil): better conformability for tight radii and smooth surfaces

  • Medium (e.g., ~5–7 mil): balanced durability and flexibility for general anti-stick / sliding wear

  • Thicker (e.g., ~10 mil): improved mechanical durability for abrasion-prone areas and repeated cycling
Share your operating temperature, contact pressure, and surface type for a recommended grade.

Q4: Will PTFE film tape leave adhesive residue after heat exposure?

A: Silicone PSA is designed for clean removal with minimal residue on many smooth substrates when removed within the recommended temperature/time window. Residue can vary with surface energy, contamination, dwell time, and peak temperature, so application trials are recommended for critical parts or cosmetic surfaces.

Q5: What is the best way to apply PTFE film tape on heat sealing machines?

A: For best performance, apply the tape to a clean, dry surface and use firm pressure (a roller helps) to ensure full contact and avoid air bubbles. Trim edges cleanly to reduce lift during cycling. For high-speed sealing jaws or frequent thermal cycling, selecting the right thickness and confirming adhesion under your process conditions will improve service life.
